These portraits come into being every Monday evening. For one hour, a global community meet online to draw one another, each drawing taking only the length of a track of music*. In that short window of time, I'm in the moment, drawing who I see with whatever is to hand. It's time to experiment, to play, be creative, free of judgement or critique. There's no time to think or analyse, only to draw a face, to find and capture the essence of a willing stranger, who is very possibly sitting far away on the other side of the world. For me, this simple weekly practice of drawing is about the very great pleasure of discovering the unique in everyone's face; it is a reminder, too, of how important it is to draw with an open, empathetic heart.
